>>>>>ABOUT C4CD: WHO ARE WE?
The Centre for Community Development (C4CD) is a community based
non-profit and non-Governmental Organization registered in 2004 under the
relevant Nigerian Laws. The Centre was established to promote youth enterprise
development with the primary goal of being a leading agent of change for young
people in the future Nigeria. As an entrepreneurial organization, we are a
certified trainer on Vocational and Entrepreneurial Skills Training (VEST) in
collaboration with the Federal Government Small and Medium Enterprise Development
Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN) under Public – Private – Partnership (PPP).
The Centre was founded by Dr. Abasubong Samson Idiong, one of
Nigeria’s few professionals in the emerging field of Community Development and a
Postdoctoral Fellow of the Federal Government Educational Exchange Programme at
the Institute of Commonwealth Studies (University of London, UK). Since its
inception in 2004, C4CD has successfully conducted capacity building programmes
both in the Diaspora and recently in the Niger Delta region as a national consultant

>>>>>WHAT
DO WE DO?
The organization resolves to use our Diaspora networks, knowledge and
resources to spur the implementation of the National Enterprise Development
Programme by using the Industrial Development Centre, Uyo, as a flagship to
fight against youth unemployment and poverty in Akwa Ibom State. Having entered into a Memorandum of
Understanding (MoU) with SMEDAN, we have so far trained over 300 youth on
vocational and entrepreneurship skills between July 2014 and April 2015. We
pride our services to providing the teeming youth and women population with
educational resources needed for economic self- reliance, industrialization,
sustainable livelihoods, and community development in the social and business
sector of the economy.
We work with civil society
organizations, public and private institutions, local and international NGOs to
transform young peoples’ economic and social situation in addition to formal education
and calling on local, state and Federal Government to support our proposed
Budget Dormitory accommodation initiative so that we can provide shelter for
trainees who are traveling to Uyo from other LGAs to participate in the
training programme.
>>>>>OUR
TARGET GROUPS
Bearing in mind the vast majority who do
not have access to formal education or education of any kind, our target
groups of Micro enterprises ensures that these ones are not left out by
building the capacity of micro enterprises with the simplest of methods and
unique coaching modules. Here, potentials retirees from corporate and
government bodies are of great advantage.

>>>>>PROGRAMMES SO FAR UNDERTAKEN
In line with the Centre’s vision and mission, C4CD has carried out
a number of activities and designed empowerment initiatives for sustainable livelihoods by providing Vocational and entrepreneurship Skills Training towards
the actualization of its mandate. The Centre solely renovated and re-activated
the 1979 abandoned textile workshop and laboratory building of the Industrial
Development Centre (IDC) Uyo, and repositioned it to serve as industrial skills
development centre in Akwa Ibom State under Public Private Partnership MOU
signed with SMEDAN.
SMEDAN as a
Federal Government Agency provides entrepreneurial sensitization and awareness
creation while C4CD sponsors the vocational and entrepreneurship skills
training of the youth and women with educational resources needed to start up
their business through funding windows requisite from Local, State and Federal
Governments respectively.
